Karen Power

Karen Power (* 1977 ) is an Irish composer.

Karen Power's work includes compositions for orchestras, ensembles , solo works, chamber music and sound installations . She includes everyday noises and sounds in her composition.

Live and act

In 2009 Power received a Ph.D. in acoustic and electro-acoustic composition with Michael Alcorn at SARC (Sonic Arts Research Center) at Queen's University in Belfast. In 2013 her first CD is it raining while you listen was released by Farpoint Recordings. Karen Power has u. a. Composition commissions from RTÉ , ConTempo Quartet, Sonar Quartet, ensemble mosaik, Ultrasound Berlin received and their music was a. a. Performed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Modern and Quiet Music Ensemble.

Karen Power has been leading the Irish collective Sounding the Feminists since 2017 .
