History and construction

The Viri was designed in 1936 by the Finnish Society of Aeronautical Engineers (Ilmailuinsinöörien kerho) . The machine was designed as a light single-seat high-wing aircraft for aerobatics and was powered by a 37 hp Szekely SR-3-0 engine. She had a non-retractable tail landing gear. The pilot sat in an open cockpit, in the front part of the fuselage covered with plywood. The rest of the fuselage was covered with fabric. The wings, supported by V-struts, could be folded back. The first prototype flew for several years, but was destroyed in an accident on January 1, 1938. Another machine was built, but could not start due to the beginning of the war .
