Karin Schmitt-Promny (born September 21, 1953 in Arsbeck , Heinsberg district ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and was a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1972, Karin Schmitt-Promny studied German and social sciences at RWTH Aachen University from 1972 to 1980 . There she obtained her master's degree in 1980 . On Higher Education and Center of RWTH Aachen University, she worked from 1980 to 1985 as a Research Associate. In 1987 she became a partner and authorized signatory of AK Media GmbH Aachen. As a specialist for day care facilities for children, she worked for the German Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband NRW in Wuppertal . From July 2015, she was released from work for her further political activities. She has been a freelance lecturer in adult education since 1982 . Karin Schmitt-Promny is married and has two children.

Karin Schmitt-Promny has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 1998. There she was a member of the board of the Aachen district association from 1999 to 2009, cashier from 2003 to 2009 and 2009 deputy chairwoman of the district association. Since 2002 she has acted as the deputy spokesperson for the green state working group for children, youth and family. She has been a deputy member of the state council since 2011. Schmitt-Promny is a member of the state party council. She has been a member of the Aachen-Laurensberg district council since 1999, as parliamentary group leader from 2011 to 2015. She was a member of the Aachen City Council from 2007 to 2014. She has been a member of the City Region Congress of the Aachen City Region since 2014. She has been a member of the Rhineland Landscape Assembly since 2009 , and has been Deputy Chair here since 2014. She is a member of the Education and Science Union .

Karin Schmitt-Promny was a member of the 16th state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from April 14, 2015 to May 31, 2017 , to which she replaced Daniela Schneckenburger .

She was a full member of the Local Policy Committee and the School and Continuing Education Committee. She was a deputy member of the Legal Committee. She was also a deputy member of the Study Commission for the Future of Crafts and Medium-Sized Enterprises .

Since 2014 she has been a member of the green federal working group for children, youth and family and was elected deputy spokesperson.
