Kariobangi

Kariobangi is a slum and slum in the northeast of the Kenyan capital Nairobi .

The first huts were built in 1961. Today in Kariobangi mainly members of the Borana people live , who moved to Nairobi from the north of Kenya (keyword rural exodus) .

The Kariobangi slum area consists of two parts, Kariobangi North and Kariobangi South, which are divided by a railway line. The northern area was settled first. The southern part of the slum now extends as far as Nairobi's most important airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport .
