Karl-Heinz Thiele (born March 9, 1930 ) is a German chemist and professor emeritus for inorganic chemistry at the TH Leuna-Merseburg and the University of Halle .

life and work

Thiele studied chemistry at the University of Greifswald and received his doctorate there in 1957 under G. Bähr. His habilitation took place in 1962 at the TH Magdeburg . In the same year he was appointed university lecturer in Magdeburg. In 1964 he was appointed professor at the TH Magdeburg. In 1970 he accepted a position at the TH Merseburg. There he was director of the Institute for Coordination Chemistry and Homogeneous Catalysis and at the end of the 1980s Dean of the Department of Chemistry. After 1990, Thiele was appointed to a chair for inorganic chemistry at the University of Halle. In 1995 he retired.

His main research interests were in the field of organometallic chemistry, complex catalysis and the synthesis of pure substances for microelectronic purposes.

Honors

In 1988 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Veszprem (Hungary). In 1990 he received the Clemens Winkler Medal from the Chemical Society of the GDR .
