The Karl-Kellner-Ring is a 1.1 km long traffic axis in the Hessian city of Wetzlar . It begins in Wetzlar's old town and ends in Wetzlar's new town. It is the most important inner-city road connection and one of the busiest roads in Wetzlar. It is named after the Wetzlar optician and instrument maker Carl Kellner .
Course and street description
The street begins at Leitzplatz in the old town and from then on runs completely through the city in four lanes. After Leitzplatz, it continues north, past the Enwag Stadium and shortly afterwards across the Lahn . From the intersection at Commerzbank-Haus, it only runs in two lanes as a one-way street heading north, the part running south is called Moritz-Hensoldt-Strasse in this section. Both lanes run separately from each other and bypass the old and new district buildings (and other buildings) as a large traffic island. The merging will only take place approx. 400 meters further on at Buderusplatz. From there it bears the name Gloelstrasse.
traffic
The Karl-Kellner-Ring is used by almost all bus routes in the Wetzlar bus system. With Leitzplatz, Haarplatz and the outdoor pool, three of the city's most important bus stops are on the street. In addition, around 50,000 vehicles pass through Karl-Kellner-Ring every day.
