Karl Assmann (soccer player)

Karl Assmann (* 1890 ; † November 10, 1958 in Graz ) was an Austrian lawyer, football player and one of the founders of SK Sturm Graz as well as its multiple chairman.

Life

Karl Assmann is one of the leading founders of SK Sturm Graz (at that time still Graz football club "Sturm" ). Even before the club was founded on May 1, 1909, Assmann played with the co-founders in a loose boys' team called Assam des negro . After the club was founded in 1909, he became the first chairman and was jointly responsible for establishing it as an official member of the German-Alpine Football Association on March 31, 1912.

Karl Assmann played for Sturm himself until 1914, after which he retired to the official level. Between 1914 and 1919 and from 1922 to 1923 he was chairman of the club two more times. After the First World War , the meanwhile doctor of law was a leader in the reorganization of the club, as many players were killed in the war.

Assmann died in Graz on November 10, 1958.
