Karl Fischer ( September 10, 1780 in Schwoitsch - November 24, 1836 ) was a German opera singer , stage actor and playwright .

Life

Fischer first studied law in Halle from 1800 to 1803, then became an economist and went to the stage in 1810. He found engagement at the Breslauer Stadttheater, where he was initially used at the opera because of his pretty voice. Occasionally one of Ludwig Devrient's guest appearances , he recognized his talent as an actor and therefore caused him to switch from opera to drama and comedy. He worked on this stage, the only one he had ever stepped on, continuously until 1836. A physical ailment of the most severe kind, which had tormented him for years, brought about his death. In addition to his work as an actor, he also wrote several stage plays, some of which were performed very often. They were characterized by beautiful language and an effective stage effect.
