Karl Kahane Foundation

Karl Kahane Foundation , founded in 1991 by the entrepreneur and namesake Karl Kahane , is the name of an independent, privately sponsored and non-political charity that has set itself the task of providing financial and moral support for a wide variety of peace-motivated or charitable projects.

The foundation is based in Celerina ( Switzerland ) and is chaired by Patricia Kahane . The foundation's assets in 2010 were two million euros.

The foundation cooperates with various secular and religious organizations and supports non-profit organizations with cultural or artistic goals, promotes cultural workers by awarding prizes and grants and supports projects in the field of intercultural exchange and the transfer of knowledge about peace policy issues.

Examples of supported projects are the annual Peace Camp , various lectures by the Bruno Kreisky Forum or the Hand in Hand initiative, a center for the promotion of mixed Israeli-Palestinian schools in Israel .

Furthermore, the foundation provides grants for specialist training for Palestinian doctors, which enable young doctors to specialize in research, practice and teaching at the Israeli Hadassah Hospitals.
