Karl Schmidt (born April 25, 1937 in Wilden , Siegen district ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and the first honorary citizen of the Wilnsdorf community .

Schmidt began an administration apprenticeship in what was then the Siegen district on April 1, 1954 and continued his career here as well. In 1969 he was appointed district administrator. On June 1 of the same year, he took up the post of municipality director of the new large municipality of Wilnsdorf, confirmed in 1981 and 1988 by the Wilnsdorf municipal council. On May 15, 1997, Schmidt was elected the first full-time mayor by the council of the municipality of Wilnsdorf, and in 1999 he was confirmed in office with 69.4% of the votes. He kept the post of mayor until 2004. Then after 35 years he was replaced by his party colleague Werner Büdenbender.

Schmidt retired on October 1, 2004. On November 4, 2004, he was made the first honorary citizen of the Wilnsdorf community because of his achievements in the community. In 2007 he was honored for 50 years of loyalty to the CDU. Schmidt was also chairman of the Wilder Heimatverein for many years.
