history

Until the early 1980s, this place was a gravel place that was still a vacant lot caused by the Second World War . Annual fairs were held here regularly . Even then, Friedrichstrasse shared this space. Then, in the mid-1980s, the new akzenta building was built with the large underground car park, which had its entrance from the west from Hochstraße . The northern part of the square was paved. The Rathaus-Galerie, which also has a larger underground car park, was built later and opened in 1994. Both underground car parks have been connected and they share the entrance and exit.
