The Karlsruhe Rheinklub Alemannia was founded in 1901 and is a pure rowing club . Training takes place in Karlsruhe in the flow-free and relatively wind-protected Rheinhafen Karlsruhe . The training area is not only limited to the dead straight three kilometer long port, experienced rowers sometimes also navigate the Rhine or the arms of the Old Rhine.

Alemannia has been doing intensive youth work for several years and was able to win a prize in 2005 for the Talentiade team with the most participants. In addition to the brothers Franz and Josef Gravenhorst, some young people also achieved success in local and international rowing regattas.

In the 1960s the club's rowers were internationally successful. The two without a helmsman with Michael Schwan and Wolfgang Hottenrott won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 . Schwan was also world champion in eighth in 1966. In 1964 and 1965 Schwan and Hottenrott became German champions for the association.

Regattas and events

Every year, the club takes part in numerous regional, national and international regattas and, together with the neighboring club, the KRV Wiking, holds the so-called autumn sprint in Karlsruhe's Rheinhafen. One of the annual events is the All you can row event, which has been taking place since 2012 and which the association has organized with the support of the Baden-Württemberg State Rowing Association and under the patronage of the German Rowing Association .
