Teišebai URU , also Teišebai ardi ("City of the Weather God"), Teischebai, Teischebani , was the Urartian capital of the Transcaucasian province. Today the place belongs to Armenia .

The ruins of the city are located in a southwestern suburb of Yerevan on the hill Karmir Blur ("Red Hill") on the bank of the Hrasdan (urart. Ildarunia) near the arterial road to Echmiadzin .

Teišebai URU was built by King Rusa II at the beginning of his reign (around 680 BC). Erebuni (Arin-berd) the old capital of the province 'Aza - the Urartean name of this region - was abandoned and the treasure of the city was brought to Teišebai. The city was also a fortress. The city is named after the weather god Teišeba . At the same time a temple of the imperial god Ḫaldi was built.

The construction of the buildings lasted until the time of King Rusa III. on. The total area of ​​the city was 0.44 km 2 . Soviet excavations under the direction of Boris Borissowitsch Piotrowski in the citadel brought to light wooden chairs with bronze fittings, a statue of Teišeba and many gold and silver objects. Armor, helmets and shields, ivory objects, stone seals and ceramic vessels have also been found. The citadel was probably built at the beginning of the 6th century BC. Chr. Destroyed.

Another place called Teišebai URU, which was founded by Rusa I , was located on Lake Sevan and has been identified with the fortress Odzaberd .
