Karnavedha ( Sanskrit : कर्णवेध, karṇavedha) is a samskara ritual from Hinduism . As part of a ceremony, the child, usually between the ages of three and five, has ears pierced and gold earrings inserted, which according to Hindu beliefs protect the child from diseases.
