Chipper Jones (born April 24, 1972 in DeLand , Florida ; real name Larry Wayne Jones Jr. ) is a retired American baseball player in Major League Baseball . He played as a third baseman for the Atlanta Braves . He is 1.93 meters tall and weighs 100 kilograms. In 2018 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame .

Beginning of career

Chipper was the first amateur draft pick in 1990. After 3½ years in the Minors, he made his debut on September 11, 1993 with the Atlanta Braves. He missed the 1994 season due to a knee injury. In 1995 he was one of the best rookies by scoring the most RBIs, the most games and the most points among rookies. In the following years he was always one of the best thugs in the league. Before the start of the 2012 season, he stated that he would step down at the end of the season.

MVP season

In 1999, Chipper Jones was named a National League MVP . He's managed to hit a .319 batting average , hit 45 home runs and 41 doubles, get 110 RBI's, hit 116 runs and steal 25 bases during that season .

2000 until today

In 2002 and 2003 he played in left field so that Vinny Castilla could play on 3rd base. Because of an Achilles tendon injury in 2004 he played on 3rd base again. On August 16, 2004, he hit his 300th home run. In the 2006 season, he became the Atlanta Braves with most hits and with the most RBI's. He also hit three home runs in one game for the first time.
