Carnival in Aalborg
The Aalborg Carnival takes place in the last week of May (calendar week 21). The Aalborg City Carnival is the largest in Northern Europe and has been organized since 1983. Every year around 25,000 participants and 100,000 spectators come.
Initially, the carnival was organized right in the city center. As the event grew, the main festival was moved to the Kildeparken city park to the south. The parades continue through the city center.
One week of carnival
The Aalborg Carnival consists of three major events: Carnival, the Battle of Carnival Bands and the Children's Carnival. In addition, the festival week offers various cultural events that vary from year to year.
Battle of Carnival Bands
Battle of Carnival Bands is an international carnival show in which carnival groups from around the world compete for the title of best carnival group of the year. The groups are judged both during the parade and in a show in the Kildeparken city park. The event will take place on Friday (calendar week 21).
Children's carnival
Children and their parents march through the city center to the city park in the children's carnival parade, where entertainment, games, music and dance are organized for the children. Children's carnival takes place on the Sunday before calendar week 21.
