Carpenter stone
The Karpetstein (also called Capett or Kapitstein ) is a boulder that lies in the garden of a house on Bisseler Straße in Bissel , a district of Großenkneten in Lower Saxony . Years ago two small bowls were discovered on one side , which were dug in by human hands in the Bronze Age and used for cult rituals.
The stone measures 3.0 × 2.6 × 1.6 m and is one of the largest boulders in the Wildeshauser Geest . The granite grave is protected as a natural monument. Where the name comes from could not be determined. There is a reference to the Latin word caput = "head", which in the course of time became Kapet. According to tradition, it is a so-called sliding stone, which means that women who want to have children should slide down the smooth surface of the stone so that their request is fulfilled.
