As the child of a Filipina and a German, Katharina Förster grew up with nine brothers in Ellhofen in the Allgäu . She learned to ski at the age of three. Her first club was TSV Ellhofen, then later moved to RG Weiler-Simmerberg . Katharina Förster competed in alpine ski races until she was twelve . She discovered mogul skiing through her brothers . In 2000 she qualified for the first time for the German championships in ski-freestyle mogul skiing. Katharina Förster celebrated her World Cup debut in 2005. From 2005 to 2008 and 2013 she was German champion in mogul skiing and in 2014 she won a European Cup. When the DOSB stopped funding for ski freestylers , she lost her position as a sports soldier in August 2017. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she was eliminated in the first final round. Katharina Förster had paid for the trip to the World Cups and the Olympic Games herself because of the canceled funding.
