Katharina Krenkel

Katharina Krenkel (* 1966 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is a German graphic artist and sculptor.

Life

Katharina Krenkel completed an interdisciplinary degree in art and design at the Saar College of Fine Arts and graduated in 1993 with a diploma in communication design. She has been working as a freelance artist since 1989. She lives and works in Köllerbach .

Katharina Krenkel works both graphically and plastically, with wool and other crochet materials such as garbage bags, wire, video tapes and rubber profiles. Her crocheted "soft sculptures" contradict the conventional understanding of sculpture, which prefers "hard" materials. She also creates embroidery drawings.
