Katharine Hayhoe
Katharine Hayhoe (* 1972) is a Canadian climate scientist . She is a professor at Texas Tech University .
Life
Hayhoe received a bachelor's degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Toronto . She was deeply impressed by a climate science course she took with Danny Harvey . She switched to Don Wuebbles at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her Masters in Atmospheric Science .
She is married to Pastor Andrew Farley .
Act
Hayhoe's research focuses on creating a scientific basis for assessing the regional to local effects of climate change on human systems and the natural environment. She once said of climate science, “The data tells us the planet is warming, science clearly shows that people are responsible, the effects we are seeing today are already grave, and our future is in our hands. “Your work has been published in numerous articles, books, and reports. She appeared in the documentary series Years of Living Dangerously on the climate crisis .
Hayhoe also works with her husband to translate climate science findings into recommendations for action for religious people and resolve misconceptions about global warming; it is assigned to the " Evangelical Christians ". Among other things, she maintains a " YouTube channel " under the name Global Weirding ("Strange things around the world") .
Awards
Christianity Today magazine listed her on its 50 Women to Watch list in 2012 .
In 2019 she was named Champions of the Earth by the United Nations Environment Program .
