Kathleen Berry

Kathleen Berry (* around 1909; † unknown) was an English table tennis player . She was one of England's best players in the 1920s. In 1934 she won bronze in the mixed world championship.

Career

Berry, the daughter of a school principal, achieved numerous national successes in the 1920s. She initially played defensively in the penholder style, but then switched to attack and shakehand . At the National English Championships she came to the final in 1921/22. For the next three years she won the individual title every time. In 1925/26 she did not take part in the English championship.

After a defeat in the 1921/22 season, she remained undefeated until the 1926 World Cup.

Berry was nominated for world championships three times , namely in 1926 , 1934 and 1935 . In 1926 she competed in mixed with her brother. She was more successful in Paris in 1934 when she reached the semi-finals in mixed with László Bellák . In doubles, she reached the quarter-finals in 1934 and 1935.
