Kattem Idrettslag (short: Kattem IL) is an association in Trondheim . As an insignificant suburban club from the Heimdal district in Trondheim, it managed to produce a women's football team that played 7 seasons ( 2005 and 2007 to 2012 ) in the top Norwegian league, Toppserien . In terms of sport, it was not over in 2012, with the relegation Kattem had defended his remaining in the top division. The constantly growing demands on the top sports clubs forced the small suburban club to make a fundamental decision this year. It was decided again for popular sport and announced both the women's team and the women's A-junior team from the league.
Kattem is located in the Heimdal district, about 15 kilometers south of Trondheim's center. Kattem itself has around 4,000 inhabitants, and around 70,000 people live in the Heimdal district.
The association was founded in 1979. Today he has departments for football, handball, climbing and swimming. The club also has a department called Allsport (German: roughly like Alles-Sport). She introduces children between the ages of 6-10 years to several sports.
From 2013, women's football was only available in the junior division at Kattem. But the juniors were slowly getting older, and in 2017 a new women's team was founded together with the neighboring club Flatås Idrettslag (Flatås IL for short) and registered for the league. The team runs under the name Kattem / Flatås and plays in the 4th divisjon (fifth highest division). The team plays their home games alternately in Kattem (venue: Åsane Kunstgress) and Flatås (Flatåsen Kunstrgess). When playing in Kattem, the team wears the colors of Kattem, blue and white, in Flatås they play in red and black.
