Cat trap

Cat in a cat trap

A cat trap serves as a live trap to catch feral cats . Since cats are not considered pests in Germany , the improper killing of vertebrates is prohibited according to the Animal Welfare Act.

Mostly, cat traps are used by animal welfare organizations to catch feral domestic cats on farms or in allotments. This happens either because the property owner does not want cats on his property or to counteract the mass increase. The captured tomcats and cats are neutered and returned to their territory.

construction

A cat trap is similar to a larger mousetrap and consists of a wire cage with a seesaw in the back. Food is attached to this rocker. By stepping on the seesaw, the cat causes it to tip over, which closes the trap entrance via a mechanism.
