A Caucasian helmet is a protective weapon from the Caucasus.
description
A Caucasian helmet is usually made of steel. The shapes of the helmet bowl vary, it can be round and bowl-shaped, round and tapering at the top, or in the shape of a pointed helmet. At the lower edge there is a very long curtain made of chain mesh, which is common for this type . This curtain covers the entire face and in some versions is slit at the front or has cutouts for the ears. Generally, a thick, padded leather cap is worn under these helmets, which lifts the helmet a few centimeters above the head. Most of the helmets are simply made, but there are also decorated versions that are decorated with gold inlays ( niello ). The extra-long curtain made of chain mesh is unique in this form for helmets.
