Kaunas Marathon is taking place since 2013 Marathon in Lithuania 's second largest city Kaunas . The Latvian bank Citadele bank is the main sponsor and namesake. The organizer is VšĮ “Kauno maratono klubas”. You can choose between a marathon, half marathon, 10 km distance, 5 km distance, marathon relay and family run.
history
In 2011, the runners Vytautas and Algirdas Pukys came up with the idea of the marathon in the former Lithuanian capital. They searched for the sponsors and registered the relevant website.
In 2013 the first marathon was organized in Kaunas. There were 2000 participants. Around 4,000 runners took part in 2014 and around 5,000 runners in 2015. In 2018 there were participants from 45 countries.
