The Kavakdere Dam ( Turkish Kavakdere Barajı ) is a dam on the Kavakdere, a tributary of the Aegean Sea , in the province of İzmir in northwestern Turkey .
The Kavakdere Dam is located 8 km southeast of the city of Seferihisar in the hinterland of the coast. It was built between 1994 and 2006 to irrigate an area of 489 hectares and to protect against floods . The barrier structure is a 42 m high earthfill dam . The dam volume is 2.1 million m³. The reservoir covers an area of 96 hectares with normal damming. The storage space is 14 million m³.
