Kawasaki formula

In medicine, the Kawasaki formula is a simple way of estimating the amount of sodium and potassium ions excreted within 24 hours from their concentration in a single urine sample . By extrapolating the concentration using the Kawasaki formula, it is therefore not necessary to collect all of the urine ( bulk urine ) over a period of 24 hours and to determine the ion concentration in it. The calculated daily excretion of sodium and potassium ions corresponds to the daily intake for a healthy person. Therefore, for example, the intake of table salt in the daily diet can be estimated using the Kawasaki formula.
