Kay Swift
Katherine Swift ( April 19, 1897 - January 28, 1993 ) was an American composer of popular and classical music,
Swift was trained as a composer at the Institute of Musical Art (which became the Juilliard School ). She was married to James Warburg, with whom she had three children. Swift went down in music history as the first female composer to compose a musical . Fine and Dandy , written in 1930, contains some of their best known songs; the theme song became a jazz standard . Your composition Can't We Be Friends? (1929) also became known as a hit. Swift also arranged and completed some of George Gershwin's works , such as his Prelude and Sleepless Night (1946).
