The cup forceps is a tool , which for joining of pipelines is used.

Specifically, the cup pliers are used to widen pipe ends. To do this, the pliers are inserted into the pipe as far as it will go. If the ends of the handle are now squeezed together, the end of the tube expands and takes on the shape of a cup. Depending on the hardness of the material (e.g. copper or lead ), the pipe end is heated beforehand. The soldering of the cup seam by means of soldering or brazing .
