Kelduhverfi is an area in northeast Iceland east of the mountains of the Tjörnes peninsula and west of Jökulsá á Fjöllum .

It belongs to the Norðurþing municipality . The Norðausturvegur , road 85, runs through this area. The famous Ásbyrgi valley lies here. Many buildings were damaged by the strong earthquakes in the winter of 1975/76; but the 9 km² lake Skjálftavatn (earthquake water ) also formed .
