Kelly Island

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kelly Island is a German child protection project of local crime prevention, which aims to offer children safe contact points in a city or community. The former Prime Minister Lothar Späth , who died in 2016, was the patron.

After a little girl was murdered in Filderstadt in 2000 , the Alexandra Sophia Foundation developed the “Kelly Island” concept together with the police, citizens and the city administration. Safe contact points should be created for children in the respective location (e.g. shops) and citizens should be made aware of the issue of moral courage . The motto of the concept is Kelly Island - I'll help you .

There are now over 3,000 Kelly Islands in Germany, around 2,000 of which are in the Esslingen district .
