Kempson device (out of order)

The Kempson method is a laboratory method used in ecology to investigate the species spectrum and animal density in the soil and in the litter .

The samples taken in the field are placed in prepared tubs with wire mesh floors and heated from above by strong light and dried out. The animals migrate down into the more humid part and finally fall through the grid floor into a collecting tray with preservative liquid.

The efficiency of the method is very high at over 90%.
