Kenesa in Vilnius

The Kenesa is the synagogue of the Karaites in Vilnius . The Kenesa was built from 1911 according to plans by the architect Mikhail Prozorov, although the First World War interrupted the work. The sacred building was inaugurated on September 9, 1923. The building was expropriated in 1949 but returned to its rightful owners in 1989. In 1993 the inauguration took place after previous restoration.
