Franz Xaver Bad

Franz Anton Xaver Schlecht (* around 1730 in Wemding ; † 1782 in Eichstätt ) was a German musician and composer.

Life

Bad was the younger brother of the later abbot Robert Schlecht of the Imperial Abbey of Salem . Little is known about his childhood and youth. He studied theology and law at the University of Salzburg ; later he gave up the latter in favor of studying music.

After successfully completing his studies, he came to Eichstätt, where he worked as the Regens Chori at the local cathedral until the end of his life . As such, he composed mainly instrumental music ( church music ) and was a. a. also responsible for the church choir. Schlecht was probably also a member of the Eichstätter cathedral chapter .

Schlecht died in Eichstätt in 1782 and found his final resting place there.
