The Kenyatta University , about 23 kilometers from Nairobi away, after the University of Nairobi 's second largest university in Kenya .

history

The university was founded in 1965 when the British government handed over the so-called Templar Baracks . The Kenyatta College , which specialized in teacher training, was initially set up in these buildings . From 1970 the school was part of the University of Nairobi and in 1972 200 undergraduate students were enrolled for the first time. On August 23, 1985, the university became independent and took the current name Kenyatta University. The Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) was part of the university until it became independent in 1988 .
