Keratometry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The keratometry is the measurement of the cornea (corneal diameter and astigmatism ). This happens e.g. B. with the help of an ophthalmometer . Topometry is a special form of keratometry . The radii of curvature are measured centrally and peripherally. A contact lens fitting can be carried out on the basis of these measurements . The central keratometric values and the topometric values describe the course of the corneal surface.

In addition to contact lens fitting, keratometry is primarily used to diagnose keratoconus and to calculate an intraocular lens .
