history

After the fall of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi , the Kurds hoped for peaceful coexistence with the majority Shiite population in Iran. At that time, Kurdish organizations began negotiations with Ayatollah Khomeini to find a peaceful solution in the Kurdish areas. There were armed clashes between the army and the Kurdish population of Iran. During this time the Khabat movement emerged, which was initially Islamist and later also pursued nationalist goals. The movement has set itself the goal of protecting the rights of the Kurds in Iran and preserving the Sunni faith.
