Khandesh
Khandesh is a region in the northern Deccan of India that has been politically organized in various forms over time:
- 14th century to 1600: Khandesh (Sultanate)
- 1601 to 1817 as Suba (province) of the Mughal Empire: Suba Khandesh
- 1817 to 1906 or 1961: as the Khandesh district
Today the region is divided into the following districts:
- Burhanpur District , Madhya Pradesh
- Dhule District , Maharashtra
- Jalgaon District , Maharashtra
- Nandurgar District , Maharashtra
- Dangs , Gujarat
A regional dialect of Gujarati with numerous loanwords is called Khandeshi (ISO 639-3: khd)
