Khert-Neter is a Finnish death metal band from Lappeenranta that was formed in 1996. Initially as a nameless project, the band was later only active as Kalmisto for a while.

history

In 1996 and 1997 Tommi Havo started working on a death metal project. While they were working on other projects in Lappeenranta, Havo and bassist Jyri Vahvanen and drummer Jarkko "Gortaur" Heilimo recorded a few demos in the late 1990s . Here the band called itself Kalmisto, but was not yet seriously pursued.

Shortly after the recordings, the Greek label ISO666 Releases became aware of the band. After the band changed their name to Khert-Neter, the demos were released in 2000 as their debut album Arrival of the Funeral Dogs . Then Enrico Huovinen joined as the new drummer. In 2001, the group went to the Music Bros Studios to record six new songs. These songs were only recorded for promotional purposes, which is why they were never officially published. Then Vahvanen left the group. Instead of a new bass player, however, the guitarist Vesa Kääpä was hired. In 2002, Anssi Mäkinen joined as the new bass player before the band returned to the Music-Bros Studios, where a demo containing three songs was recorded. The demo was released in small numbers. Then Lars Holm, a graphic designer who had previously worked with the band, joined the line-up as the new singer. Subsequently, work began on the next album Images of Khepri , which was recorded in early 2005. Kääpä and Havo were active as producers. The album was released in the same year on the band's own label Khert-Neter Productions. The sound carrier was distributed worldwide via Dynamic Arts Records . In 2007 a music video was created for the song Everdreaming God . Towards the end of the year work began on an EP , which should be called Holy Among the Gods . However, the EP was released in 2009 under the name Sekhmet the Destroyer .

style

Patrick “Päddl” Weinstein from metal-district.de wrote in his review of Arrival of the Funeral Dogs that it contained classic Death Metal in the American style. The songs would oscillate “between blastbeats and mid-tempo riffing ”, but the fast part predominated. The songs would mostly be very similar. The singing is not very deep, but aggressive.
