Khoo Teck Puat
Khoo Teck Puat (born January 13, 1917 - February 21, 2004 ) was a Singaporean businessman and banker .
Life
Khoo attended Saint Joseph's Institution in Singapore. He founded the Malaysian Maybank . In 1986, together with the Chinese banker Yue-Kong Pao and the Australian entrepreneur Robert Holmes à Court , he prevented a hostile takeover of the British Standard Chartered Bank by Lloyds Bank . According to US Forbes Magazine , Khoo was one of the richest people in Singapore before his death. He was married and lived in Singapore and had several children. He died of a heart attack.
