Kid British is a British pop band from Manchester .
Career
In 2002, school friends Adio Marchant and Simeon Mclean met James Mayer by chance and started talking. This resulted in the band Action Manky . Three years later they got together with producer Sean Mbaya and decided to move on together. As Kid British and the Action Manky , they developed their own style and gained growing popularity.
Eventually they got a record deal in 2008 and shortened their name to Kid British . They played at Glastonbury and V Festivals and toured nationwide before releasing their debut single, Our House Is Dadless , in 2009. The song includes a sample of Madness’s song Our House and hints at the band’s ska influences. It became a minor UK chart hit, as did the album It Was This or Football, which was released shortly thereafter . In the same year they also took part in the Young Soul Rebels charity project .
In 2012 James Mayer left the band and new members were added. Adio Marchant started his side project Bipolar Sunshine and had an international hit in 2015 together with DJ Snake .
