History and architecture

The farm belonged to Johann Martin Meylin at least at the beginning of the 18th century. The Meylin family is mentioned in two local sagas from Westerhüsens. After Johann Martin Meylin's death, his widow married Franz Böckelmann on October 20, 1711.

Today's two-storey house was built according to an inscription on the south side of the house entrance in 1751. The previously existing buildings were destroyed in a major fire on May 18, 1750. While the basement is a massive construction, the upper floor is a half-timbered construction. The house was covered with a tiled pitched roof . Currently (as of 2019) there is no roof.

The farm comprised arable land and before 1820 belonged to the farmer Christoph Gottfried Böckelmann. The yard included a mill and, after the separation, eleven acres of arable land. In 1820 the farm passed to the tiller August Wilhelm Brennecke, who was succeeded as owner in 1821 by the master miller Andreas Grabau. Grabau had the Curiosche windmill built on Holsteiner Strasse in 1830 . In 1864 his widow became the owner. In 1866 the economist Lebrecht Friedrich August Grabau took over the property. Before street numbers were assigned, the homestead was number 29. In 1920 old stable buildings on the street and on the east side were demolished. A large barn also disappeared. It carried a stork's nest and the last thatched roof still in existence in Westerhüsen . In 1926 the farm belonged to Mrs. Lehmann, née Fischer, and the merchant Herm. Eschert, from 1927 Mrs. Marg. Lehmann and the widow Anna Eschert who lives at Holsteiner Straße 15. At least until the 1920s there was a baroque dovecote from the 18th century, described as picturesque . In addition, a large archway and a stable on the west side were preserved.

In 1986 the interior of the building was modernized and adapted to modern living standards. Nevertheless, at the beginning of the 21st century, the house was already in dire need of renovation without a roof. Parts of the east-facing half-timbered gable had to be removed. At least since 2009 the building has not been listed as a cultural monument in the local monument register .
