Keel
In iron and steel shipbuilding, the outer skin of the ship consists of plate corridors running in the direction of the ship . The corridor of the floor plating adjoining the middle of the ship is called the keel corridor . It forms the backbone of the ship and on some ships that come into contact with the bottom of the harbor in tidal harbors, for example, to protect the hull with a doubling or greater plate thickness.
