The Kiev Slavs are a Ukrainian American football team from Kiev .
history
The Slavs (German: Slaven ) were founded in 1992 under the name Hawks . In 1995 the name was changed to Destroyers , and in 1999 the team adopted its current name. In 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001 and 2002 the team was the Ukrainian runner-up. In 2000 they also won the cup of the Ukrainian American Football Association FAFU.
The Ukrainian national team, which took third place at the 2000 European Football Championship , consisted of 10% players from Kiev.
In 2002 the team took part in the Eurobowl , but dropped out in the qualifying round.
