Killerton is an 18th century country house estate in Devon . The country house was built in 1778 and is now a museum. The property, which extends over an area of ​​over 2,500 hectares, also includes a chapel built in 1738 according to plans by Charles Robert Cockerell. The garden was laid out in the 1770s by John Veitch , the founder of the Veitch & Sons tree nursery . Killerton also has a wooded hill on which the remains of an Iron Age fortification have been found. In 1952, Killerton House and the Ha-Ha in front of the entrance were listed as a Level II * building, and the property has been owned by the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty since 1944 .
