Kilpheder (also Kilphedir , Gaelic Cille Pheadair ) is an administrative district in the southwest of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland . Kilpheder is two kilometers southwest of Daliburgh , on Loch Dun Na Cille , north of North Boisdale .

An Iron Age wheelhouse consisting of ten segments was excavated here in 1952 . In 1997, about one kilometer to the northwest, at Fairy Point ( Sithean Biorach , "Feenpunkt"), an Old Norse settlement from the 10th to 13th century was discovered, which consists of the remains of eleven stone buildings and was excavated. The excavations have revealed some notable artifacts made of steatite , as well as seeds, shards, a number of bones, two silver coins and an ornate gold strip. The Machair , the fertile coastal landscape, is under protection (SPA).
