Kim & Chang
Kim & Chang ( 金 & 張 ) is the largest law firm in South Korea with over 1000 professionals. The American Lawyer (ALM) named it in 2019 as the only Korean law firm listed in 'The Global 100'.
history
Kim & Chang was founded by lawyer Kim Young-moo in 1973. He studied for several years in the USA and received a Master of Comparative Law at the University of Chicago Law School in 1967 and a Juris Doctor at Harvard Law School in 1970. He was admitted to the bar in South Korea and the US state of Illinois . He then tried to set up a Korean law firm based on US standards and was the first in South Korea to hire foreign lawyers . After the founding, his long-time friend Chang Soo-kil joined them and this is how the current name of the law firm came about.
