Kinclaith was a whiskey distillery in the Strathclyde Distillery Complex, Glasgow , Scotland , UK .
history
The distillery was founded in 1957 by Seager, Evans & Co. Ltd. Built on the grounds of the Strathclyde Grain Distillery and closed again in 1975. After the closure, the entire plant was sold to Whitbread in 1976 , who dismantled it to expand the grain distillery.
Since whiskey was produced here for the blend industry, there is no in-house bottling, but the market is supplied by independent bottlers ( Duncan Taylor , Gordon & MacPhail , Cadenhead ). The current owner of the complex is Allied Distillers .
production
The water for the distillery, which is part of the Lowlands region, came from Loch Katrine. It had six stainless steel fermentation vats ( wash backs ) . Distillation took place in a wash still and a spirit still .
