Central Lowlands

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Scottish Highlands and Lowlands

The Central Lowlands are the most heavily populated part of Scotland . They lie between the Highlands in the north, the Southern Uplands in the south, the Firth of Clyde in the west and the Firth of Forth in the east. They contain the essential industry as well as the most important arable land in Scotland.

Here you will also find the Central Belt , with cities like Edinburgh , Glasgow and Stirling , as well as the neighboring counties from Ayr to Dundee and Perth . Outside of this "core" of Scotland, which is by no means geographically centrally located, the city of Aberdeen on the east coast is noteworthy as it is also located in the Central Lowlands.
