Aroab is a village in the Keetmanshoop-Land constituency of the ǁKaras region in southern Namibia , 35 kilometers west of a border post in the South African Rietfontein and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park . The village is said to have up to 5000 inhabitants.

The place is in the traditional settlement area of ​​the Nama on the Aub - Rivier , where many Haakdoring ( asparagus plants ; Aroe on Nama) grow, from which the name Aroe Aub is derived. Around 1900, Aroab was settled by farmers who temporarily fled to Rietfontein during the Nama War. In 1913 the place received its first retail store .

Today Aroab is an agricultural community with a Protestant church and various schools.
